Internet Setup
Linking to the Internet
Our DVR Kits can be linked to the internet, and then viewed either from a mobile phone app or a PC. However you will need to configure your internet router in order that this can happen.
Give the DVR an IP address
so that it can communicate with the Internet router and then to the Internet. There are two ways of doing this. If you are a familiar with setting up a small network, then go into the DVR set up menu and locate the Network Settings area and input an I.P ADDRESS, Subnet and gateway in line with the router. Alternatively in the same area, check the DHCP checkbox the DVR will then pick up an IP from the router automatically.
Once this is complete. Load the VS200 software from the enclosed CD onto a PC and configure the settings to match the DVR. It should then be possible to see the images form the DVR on the PC. This will prove that the DVR is on the network.
Configure the routers port forwarding.
The router acts as a `firewall` for internet traffic and will ordinarily block traffic such as the DVR picture. To unblock this it is necessary to allow the port that the traffic is on to go through the router.
By default the DVR uses port 34567 and it is necessary to go into the routers menu to set this port forward up.
Your router will have an IP address, username and password. If you are unfamiliar with this process, we offer a setup assistance service for our customers who have purchased a DVR from us.
There are also many tutorials on the internet that explain port forwarding.
